Hello, Shadow

Why we built Shadow, what ships today, and where we're going next.

Most SaaS teams ship faster than they document. UI changes weekly, the help center drifts, and the tutorial videos that took a week to produce are obsolete by the time they’re published.

Shadow exists to collapse that loop. Today, we’re launching the first public version — Shadow Tutorials, the first of four product lines that run on the same capture substrate.

What ships today

  • One capture SDK — a single <script> tag that records the screens your users actually see, passive by default.
  • AI composer — finds relevant screens, drafts narration, renders storyboards.
  • On-brand video output — narrated, captioned walkthroughs that match your colors, logo, and voice.
  • Embeddable player — drop a branded, analytics-enabled player anywhere.

One substrate, many outputs

Tutorials is our first output. Shadow Insights, Shadow Demos, and Shadow Assist come next — all powered by the same SDK. Install once, and every new product line lights up without a second integration.

Why dogfood

The demo video on our homepage is generated by Shadow itself, using the same SDK and pipeline you get when you sign up. If we can’t record our own install tutorial with our own tool, nobody should trust us to record theirs.

What’s next

  • Docs content collection and a searchable reference.
  • Shadow Insights beta — product analytics on the semantic flow graph.
  • Multi-language narration.
